BBC Radio

I made it onto the BBC Radio. In their football-phone in on tuesday, they have a section for the Totalitarian league. Here they imagine what would happen if there were only 20 teams allowed in Britain. I made the case for Ajax. Listen what happened.

Dear Danny and Izzie

I would like to make the case for AFC Ajax of Amsterdam in the totalitarian league. Not just because i was born there.

Sure, it doesn't play in Britain, but hey, would a totalitarian regime not have territorial ambitions?
And we were kind of one in 1688. Ajax wore spare Arsenal shirts after world war 2 and are being called Yids, like they do with Tottenham. Jack Reynolds was a very British trainer in the 20s and 40s too.

But why include them?
Well they represent two things of all football

1. Youth, there is no more famous youth education programme than that of Ajax, and it seems typically something a totalitarian regime would want "train our yong ones!"
2. Total football, is the dream of most football fans, and it was actually realised with Ajax in the 70s and mid-90s, led by quite totalitarian coaches, i might add.
